Bible Survival

Ok…I’m sorry for the late entry today. I’ve been working on this video here and there throughout the day…sorry for it’s length, and for the choppy editing (though in some way, it may achieve a certain stylization by chopping it up the way I did)(Seriously though…I had to chop it up to remove all the extrenious stuff that just made it even longer).

  1. first off, a real live pastor who actually recommends the message – not once, but i think about five times!! šŸ™‚ i am super impressed. i have always been a fan of the message and of eugene peterson….

second, speaking of ep… have you read “eat this book – a conversation in the art of spiritual reading”?? it is such an awesome book… here is a part from the insert:

“eugene peterson is convinced that the way we read the bible is as important as that we read it. do we read the bible for information about God and salvation, for principles and “truths” that we can use to live better? or do we read it in order to listen to God and respond in prayer and obedience? eat this book challenges us to read the scriptures on their own terms, as God’s revelation, and to live them as we read them. with warmth and wisdom, peterson offers greatly needed, down-to-earth counsel on spiritual reading. he draws readers into a fascinating conversation on the nature of language, the ancient practice of lectio divina, and the role of scripture translations.”

anyway, i would highly recommend this book….

thanks, rob, for your video….. sometimes i don’t know whether you’re being serious or you’re being satirical…

you were being serious, right??? šŸ™‚

  2. I can’t sit still long enough to read anything. My wife bought me “The Message” on CD (set) for Christmas in 05′. For the first time I “read” the Bible. I started in Jan. and finished in late June! I listened to it on the way to and from work and when I traveled. What was waisted time changed my life.
